all about steve movie poster 202x300 All About SteveThe Story:

Mary Horowitz (Sandra Bullock) writes crossword puzzles for the Sacramento Herald. When kids at a career day make fun of her for being single, she accepts a blind date with Steve (Bradley Cooper), the cameraman for a CNN-like news network. Within minutes she decides he’s the man for her.

He’s quickly put off by her constant verbiage and over-the-top advances; he makes an off-hand remark about going on the road with her, and splits. She’s moonstruck, writes a sappy crossword puzzle, loses her job, and decides to follow him as the news team crisscrosses the Southwest; Steve’s team eggs her on. Then she falls in a mine shaft, and she and Steve become a story; is it a love story?

Review:

Actually, this movie was not that worst, but it was released on a bad timing. First, it gonna be compared with another comedy that nominated in Oscar, The Hangover (also starred by Bradley Cooper). Second, Sandra Bullock will be compared with her another movie where she won an Oscar for best actress, The Blind Side. Finally, this movie proven not a match for those two films.

The real problem of this movie was not the plot, but the main character played by Sandra Bullock itself. Mary is too spoil, irrational behavior, fussy, creepy, thus unnatural. Not even Sandra Bullock herself can help made this poorly written character alive.

While for Mary love interest, Steve, he got all the reasons in the world to avoided her. In the other hand Steve co-worker, Hartman Hughes (played by Thomas Haden Church), planning a plot to match Steve and Mary as a practical joke to revenge Steve. The chemistry between Steve and Hughes is well built, sometime their argument was resolved by their partner, Angus (Ken Jeong).

What a say about this movie: The story is make sense, but the character isn’t. I still managed to laugh few times when watching this one, but never because of the main character action. If you’re a big fan of Sandra Bullock, I suggest you to pass this film, because it might be her worst character ever…

Sandra Bullock is such a great actress, not in this not-so-funny-movie though…
