After a flurry of casting announcements last week, you could say that further additions to Rian Johnson's upcoming Knives Out threequel Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery felt... inevitable. And this one's big... huge... Titan-sized even. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Thanos himself, Josh Brolin, has joined the ensemble for Benoit Blanc's "most dangerous mystery" yet.
As the sequel to 2022's Glass Onion gets ready to begin production in the UK this month, writer-director Johnson has been moving quick to secure his latest set of potential suspects/victims. So far, we've already learned that – deep breath – Josh O' Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Andrew Scott, Glenn Close, Kerry Washington, Jeremy Renner, and Mila Kunis are all entering the fray alongside Daniel Craig, who will play the Foghorn Leghorn-accented Southern sleuth once again. But as far as the plot goes? Well, that's a mystery. The use of a U2 song title and a UK shoot would suggest Blanc may be heading across the pond for this one though.
Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery will round out Johnson's murder mystery trilogy, the last two films of which have come thanks to the Looper filmmaker's eye-watering $400 million deal with Netflix. And with Brolin's casting, we now have eight ensemble cast members announced, four men and four women. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be. (Until the next casting announcement, of course.)
