Are you ready to go back to the Silo? Or – SPOILER WARNING for the end of Season 1 – ready to explore more of what’s outside the Silo? Because Silo, the Apple TV+ adaptation of Hugh Howey’s Wool novels, is readying its return, set to unspool more secrets from the apocalyptic future that’s left the remnants of humanity living in a vast subterranean bunker. Why? Nobody knows. Yet. The first season was largely a mystery thriller set in the Silo’s bowels, as Rebecca Ferguson’s engineer Juliette Nichols explored the suspicious death of her sort-of-lover George – his disappearance connected to knowledge he obtained of what lies outside the Silo. Come the end of the season, we got more of a hint of what exactly is out there – but we’ll keep schtum on that for now.
The most important news is that we now know when Season 2 will begin arriving: Apple TV+ has confirmed that the new episodes will debut starting on 15 November. But anyone hoping to devour a few episodes in a row, be patient: this one begins with just a single episode launching on the 15th, to be followed weekly by the subsequent nine instalments, through to January 2025. The new season will also feature fresh cast member Steve Zahn, previously seen checking into The White Lotus – though who exactly he’ll be playing is currently under wraps.
And that’s just one of the questions to be answered this time around. (SEASON 1 SPOILER WARNING AGAIN!) In the previous season finale, it was revealed that the exterior of the Silo is, indeed, a poisonous wasteland, but – gasp! – there are several other Silos out there in the immediate vicinity. So, who (or what?) resides in the other Silos? How did the world get like this? Is it even Earth? And why are the surviving humans forbidden from any knowledge of what became of their home all those generations ago? Answers to some of those things – we hope, anyway – should be on the way this November. For now, enjoy being able to look out of windows.
