If you've been patiently waiting to hear when Doctor Who will return to screens (or wishing you had a TARDIS so you could just whizz forward in time and watch the new series anyway), prepare to be pleased. The Beeb and Disney+ have revealed that the first full series featuring Ncuti Gatwa's Fifteenth Doctor will kick off in May.
Specially, for those in the UK, at midnight on Saturday 11 May, when two episodes of the new run featuring Gatwa and Millie Gibson's Ruby Sunday will land on the iPlayer ahead of their airing on that evening on BBC One.
Viewers outside Britain will see the show launch on Disney+ simultaneously (so, say, 7pm on the East Coast of the States and 4pm on the West Coast). One episode will follow weekly at the same time around the world.
We can expect the usual dashing around time and space, including on adventures to unknown lands, the Regency era in England, outer space worlds, and the sixties. "At last, it’s my great delight to unleash a whole new season of the Doctor and Ruby’s adventures together," says showrunner Russell T. Davies. "Monsters! Chases! Villains! Mysteries! And a terrifying secret that’s been spanning time and space for decades. Don’t miss a second!"
Returning faces will include Michelle Greenidge as Carla Sunday, Angela Wynter as Cherry Sunday, Anita Dobson as Mrs Flood, Bonnie Langford as Mel Bush, Jemma Redgrave as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart well as a fresh batch of special guest stars including Jinkx Monsoon, Aneurin Barnard, Yasmin Finney, Jonathan Groff, Lenny Rush and Indira Varma.
So yes… not too long to wait now for more Gatwa goodness. Now, wonder if they could get Ryan Gosling to guest star? After all, fair exchange for Ncuti showing up to the Oscars for "I'm Just Ken", right?
