Review:
Adapted from Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner’s Comic Series which published by The DC Comics, RED was nominated in Satellite Award for three categories, Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical (John Malkovich), Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical (Mary-Louise Parker), and Best Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical.
This one is a movie filled with veterans. Besides Bruce Willis and John Malkovich, there are Morgan Freeman, Hellen Mirren and Brian Cox. Well, you can imagine something similar to The Expendables, only with different kind of actions. Instead of fighting with muscle and blowing up everything (which is, of course, quite impossible for those who above 50′s), the heroes fight cleverly and using all their experiences they’ve got when they were working as an agent.
RED short for Retirement Emergency Dangerous is a twisting of action, humor and a little romance movie. Although nothing is extraordinary from this movie, RED is solid and good written. I don’t categorize it as a full action movie, but it’s still interesting to watch it in the family room when you are at home and relax with the family.
