Review:

Getting tired with zombie movies with the same plot? Now, this one is a relieve. Previously, I only gave credit to Resident Evil series for zombie genre, not because the movies were good but because I’m the big fan of the original game. But now, I really enjoyed watching this one that directed by Ruben Fleischer in his first ever film!

Zombieland is a perfect mix between action and comedy, which taken place in a whole zombie infected country. So, where’s the horror you might asked? Nope, I don’t think this is a horror movie at all. There are scary zombies scattered, the suspense are well built, but really, you’ll be given much more laugh than a goosebumps.  And that’s exactly the point of this movie, how the characters can keep themselves naturally funny, while in the other side still terrifying by the zombie attack.

I also want to take note about Woody Harrelson act in this movie. Since Natural Born Killer (1994), I don’t remember there were another good movies by him as a main role. Of course there were The Thin Red Line, No Country for Old Men, Seven Pounds, or 2012, but he was only as supporting role in those movies. Now he’s back with his original character, strong, funny, sarcastic, but lovable. While this movie only contains of four main character, each ones managed to developed their personality quite well.

The relationship between each character also unique and you won’t find it in another zombie movies. In this cinema, they were not working together to saved their life from zombie’s attack, instead they con each other to take charge the most powerful ride and arms for their side’s survival. It almost feel that the main threat for their existence was not from the flesh-eating corpse but from another living human being.

This movie is fresh idea, and it also well receipt by critics and audiences. And now, the sequel has been in post-production with the same cast. Hopefully the sequel won’t be a flop like many of its predecessor.
