The annual sporting event that is the Super Bowl – which both draws millions of eyes to TV screens and increasingly these days provides a launching point for ads that run longer online – was naturally chock full of movie trailers, spots and ads featuring big names. There's always a slew to watch out for, so we decided to highlight a few and round up the ones that entertained us in a handy guide. Check out this year's offerings…
Movie Trailers
The Flash
The first full look at the troubled new superhero outing promises lots of multiverse action and, most excitingly, Michael Keaton's Batman returning. We wrote more about this one right here.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3
What will the final entry in James Gunn's trilogy bring? We'll find out in May, and wrote more about the trailer here.
Movie Spots
Creed III
With Michael B. Jordan directing as well as starring this time, Adonis Creed faces a big challenge in the ring from old friend-turned-rival Damian Anderson (Jonathan Majors).
Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny
Indy's back for his fourth outing (contractual Empire joke there), but he still hates - and punches – Nazis and gets into scrapes. Find more about this one here.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
A mix of old and new footage for the fantasy adventure, with Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez and co. encountering beasts.
Fast X
Really just a cut-down version of the big trailer that launched last week, Fast X nevertheless had a presence.
Scream VI
Team Scream put out a spot that included some new footage, putting it ahead of some others. Yet it's still mostly a reminder that tickets are going on sale.
Super Mario Bros.
Skipping the usual trailer, this is instead a funny ad for the titular brothers, linking to a recorded phone greeting from the main characters and an easter egg-filled website.
Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts
When is a movie spot also mostly an advert? When your movie features a lot of cars and Porsche spots an opportunity for a tie-in.
Commercials
Dunkin'
He may be married to Jennifer Lopez (who pops up in a cameo at the end), but we all know Ben Affleck's true love is Dunkin'. Here, he works one of their drive-thru locations, and the reactions are predictably funny.
Rakuten
Alicia Silverstone reprises her classic role as Cher from the 1995 comedy, here touting shopping cash-saving app Rakuten.
Avocados From Mexico
Anna Faris gets nude (and clued in) as Eve, learning how much Avocados can do for the world.
GM X Netflix
Two giant brands – one classic, one more recent, team up to push electric vehicles, using Will Ferrell and a wealth of big Netflix titles.
Downy Unstoppables
The laundry detergent brand rebrands Danny McBride as "Downy McBride" to show how effective their scent beads are.
M&M's
The sweets brand aimed to stir up controversy by announcing it was replacing its iconic spokescandies with Maya Rudolphs' Ma&Yas - clam-filled versions of the product.
Hellman's US
Jon Hamm, no stranger to riffs on his last name (see also this classic SNL offering), here finds himself in a fridge with Brie Larson. And Pete Davison threatens to eat them both. It's surreal but only slightly amusing.
Booking.com
It's Booking.no to Idris Elba as Melissa McCarthy takes over pimping the travel company.
T-Mobile
Scrubs veterans Zach Braff and Donald Faison have been T-Mobile pitch men for a few months now, but here they're joined by John Travolta for a Grease-themed musical spot.
And in the rare instance of a company trying a different track, T-Mobile also got Bradley Cooper (and his mum) to push their phone lines' speed and quality. The results are… chaotic., And funny.
PopCorners
If you thought – spoiler alert in case you haven't reached that point yet – that the final season of Better Call Saul would be the only place to see Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul as Walt and Jesse, then think again. And with bonus Tuco (Raymond Cruz), all directed by Breaking Bad boss Vince Gilligan, it's a winner.
Heineken
Marvel didn't both with an Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania trailer spot, since it's out next week. But there's always room for a tie-in, here, featuring Paul Rudd.
e.l.f. Cosmetics
The influencer-loved brand hired Jennifer Coolidge to bring her comedy chops to this quirky, sticky ad, directed by the actor's White Lotus-creating pal Mike White.
Pepsi
To push the idea of trying its Pepsi Zero Sugar drink for yourself to decide if it's authentic, the soft drink giant hired comedy legends Ben Stiller and (in a second ad) Steve Martin to tout reality vs. acting.
Michelob Ultra
A Caddyshack-themed ad for the beer brand features the likes of Brian Cox and Serena Williams (but subbing in athlete-turned-broadcaster Tony Romo for Bill Murray).
Squarespace
Banking on people liking Adam Driver, Squarespace offers up more drivers than on your average golf range.
Disney
It had some big movies to tout, but Disney also found time for a little back-patting for its own history, given that the company turns 100 this year.
